  2. An enterprising community can help to build a better future. Developing local resources can strengthen the local economy. The greatest resource of any area is its people, their skills, knowledge, enthusiasm and commitment.

Working Together • Community Forums ensure that the widest range of local people network with each other and advisory and funding partners to implement the findings of the Community Action Plans • A strong participatory process is fundamental to effective local democracy • Being open and transparent, builds trust and strengthens relationships

  4. Community Engagement Workshops • Visioning, Plugging the Leaks, Sustainable Project Planning and more… • Enjoyable and participative events, which bring together a wide range of local people and organisations to create a vision for the future.

  5. Agree Action Plan For The Future: • Through Workshops, an Action Plan will be developed. • To focus on what the community can achieve. • To provide a framework for sustainable community-led projects. • To feed into area and thematic plans e.g. geographical hubs, tourism

  6. Supporting Project Implementation • Developing skills and knowledge • Sharing innovation and good practice • Accessing professional guidance & expertise • Securing funds from a wide range of sources including PLANED geographic and thematic projects; partner and other organisations

  7. Pembrokeshire Networks supported: • Community Forum Network • Pembrokeshire Sustainable Agricultural Network • Pembrokeshire Business Network • Festival & Events Network • Community Energy Network • Valuing the Environment Network • Community Growing Network

Community engagement in Newport • Visioning workshops held 2003 and Action Plan agreed January 2005 • Newport Community Forum formed • Identified as Hub community 2010 • Range of groups established and projects developed including Walkers are Welcome, Skate Park, Street Market, heritage interpretation • Action plan review in May 2013

Community Growing Network • & St Davids Peninsula Hub • Practical support & visits to good practice • Officer Support and business development plan for first community supported agriculture scheme in Pembrokeshire “Caerhys Organic Community Agriculture” • “Can St DavidsPeninsula feed itself?” Report commissioned • Led to Pembrokeshire Horticultural Audit • Growing our Growers conference Autumn 2013

Pembrokeshire Community Halls Website • First identified as hub project, but developed to cover whole of Pembrokeshire • Based on initiative run in North England, each facility has own web page including activities held, rooms for hire etc. • Aim is to increase sustainability and economic opportunities for community halls • Links closely with Community Buildings Forum • Latest development will be to include an online booking system

  11. Community Voice • Stronger Communities – Better Services • Consortium project of 8 partners, led by PAVS (Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services) and funded via Big Lottery Fund • The aim is to give communities a stronger voice in local decision making particularly around local service provision.
