  1. TRADITION-BOUND OR NON-TRADITIONAL ? WHAT DOES THE BIBLE TEACH ABOUT TRADITIONS? It Says Nothing About Many Traditions We Keep! It Says Scriptural Traditions Are Essential To Keep! 1 Cor. 11:1-2; 2 Thess. 2:15; 2 Thess. 3:6

  2. “Be ye imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ. 2 Now I praise you that ye remember me in all things, and hold fast the traditions, even as I delivered them to you.” 1 Corinthians 11:1-2. ASV “Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.” 2 Thessalonians 2:15. “Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.” 2 Thessalonians 3:6.

  4. “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” Colossians 2:8, KJV. “Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, (Touch not; taste not; handle not; Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.” Colossians 2:20-23, KJV.

Some Traditions Need Changing 1 John 4:1; 2 John 9 Some Traditions Must Not Change Lord’s Supper on 1st Day – Acts 20:7 A Capella Singing – Eph. 5:19; Heb. 7:14

Sunday P.M./Mid-week Bible Study/Gospel Mtgs. 1 Thess. 5:14-24; Hebrews 10:23-25; 12:12-17 Is Change Out Of Contempt Toward “Tradition”? If “Bored” – Examine Your Own Heart “Non-Traditional” Can Become “Traditional”

EXAMINE THE REASON BEFORE CHANGING • DO NOT BE BIASED AGAINST CHANGE! • Jesus Condemned Holding To Man’s Traditions • Mark 7:1-2 – When Required Washing Hands • 7:3-5 – Man’s Tradition vs. God’s Law • 7:6-8 – They Eliminated God’s Way • 7:9-13 –They Substituted Man’s Way • We Must Test The Reason For Any Tradition • 1) Be willing to change if God’s Law is violated. • 2) Do not change if lawful & spiritually uplifting. • 3) Do not change merely because you are “bored.” • 1 Thess. 5:21-22; 2 Tim. 3:16-17
