  1. Reasons to Switch to Cloth Pads

  2. About Cloth sanitary pads are a very good option when looking for a zero waste alternative to disposable pads. They are more environmentally friendly and in addition economical as you can reuse them for years. They are a healthier option too, as they help to reduce the risk of TSS. However, in order to ensure that our washable Cloth Pads last as long as possible, it is important to take good care of them.

  3. Reasons to Switch to Cloth Pads 1. They’re lovely and soft against your skin so you hardly feel like you’re wearing a pad. 2. They’re flexible so they mould to the curve of your body and move with you. 3. There’s no sticky backing so you never get your pubic hair agonisingly pulled if you get your knickers down in a hurry. 4. It’s easier to get them in exactly the right place because they fasten with a press stud so you can reposition them. 5. They smell much less once used, you fold and fasten them with the press stud and pop them in a pouch in your bag they do not smell at all.

  4. Reasons to Switch to Cloth Pads 6. You’ll save money. Even though they seem expensive to buy, they work out cheaper in the long run. 7. They’re much prettier with colourful covers and beautiful stitching. Some pads have coloured or even black insides which prevent you seeing the colour of your blood. It’s helpful to see it so you can track it can vary from black to brown to red or pink. 8. They’re easier to wash and get clean than you think after use, soak them top side face down in cold water. Rinse well until the water runs clear and hand-wash or pop them in the washing machine on a 30 degree wash with other laundry.

  5. Choose your washable pads wisely: Always try to choose cloth pads made from organic cotton. The pad is in contact with your skin for hours at a time and it is therefore very important that the fabric does not contain any type of harmful chemicals. A good quality washable pad is one that adjusts itself to your flow and your needs. You can find many types of reusable pads, from the extra thin panty liners to overnight pads or specific pads for use after giving birth. If seeing your own blood bothers you, you can always choose coloured pads instead of the traditional white. This way the blood stains will be nearly unnoticeable. But remember, it is your blood and it is not dirty

  6. Things You Should Avoid Doing With Your Cloth pads Avoid using Marseille soap and black soap, also steer clear of industrial softeners, the reason being that the fabric fibres with absorb the oil/fat and this will reduce the pad’s absorption potential. Do not use bleach or stain removers in order to avoid exposing your pads to chemical substances. Do not wring out your pads. This could lead to the pad losing its original shape. If you need to dry them further , wrap them in an absorbent towel and apply pressure to draw out the excess water.
