  3. Objectives • Students will practice and hone their teamwork skills and delegation tasks • Students will practice the five steps of the writing process with particular emphasis on revising and correcting • Students will acquire the skills and practice needed for self-revision and -proofreading

  4. The Writing Process • Prewriting • Exploring and choosing ideas • Gathering information and organizing details • Drafting • Written ideas in a layout similar to the desired product • Revising • Correcting big errors • Improving form and content of the writing

How-to Revise Revising: Correcting big errors; improving form and content of the writing • To revise correctly ask yourself the following questions: • What’s the main idea or point? • Who is reading this and why am I writing this? • Does my writing support the main idea? • Is it easy to understand? Are there any confusing sentences? Did I use all of the words correctly? • How are my grammar and spelling? • What is the best part? What is the worst part? How-to Proofread Proofreading: Polishing writing and fixing spelling and grammar mistakes • To revise correctly follow these simple steps: • Take a break and clear your brain • Read EVERY word when you go through the paper • Have enough time to go through the writing more than once • Read the paper to yourself aloud • Have another person read the paper • Remember mistakes that you have a habit of making • Constantly review and use your English language skills • Check here for more questions to ask: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/561/01/

  13. I was on my way home from the minimart. I walked as fast as I could because I was carrying a big tub of ice cream. The sun was shining and I did not want the ice cream to melt. I could not wait to eat it.

  14. When I walked past an outdoor stage, I saw a group of teenagers performing. They were singing and dancing. I was so engrossed in their performance that I forgot about my ice cream completely.

  15. When the show was over, I suddenly realized that I had been standing there for nearly an hour! I checked my ice cream. The tub was warm. The ice cream had melted!
