  2. 5. “I stood waiting just long enough for my other young self to come join me.” • Correct answer: Symbolism • Doug’s younger self coming to “join” him and them leaving town symbolizes his readiness to move on from his past and leave everything behind.

  3. 6. “Six shots…But I didn’t use the pistol. I only whispered the sound of the shots.” • Correct Answer: Symbolism • The fake “six shots” symbolize Doug releasing his revenge on Ralph, Doug gets rid of all his anger towards Ralph by fake shooting him.
