Monday, March 26, 2012 • Grab a new Frank from the stool • Conflicts in the Middle East • Current Events • Reflection • Check out with Frank • Learning Target: I can describe how political and religious and economic conflict can occur now. • Bellringer: Can you think of any religious, economic or political problems that the Middle East is currently facing? List the conflicts.

Video Expectations • Conversation: Level 0 • Help: Raise your hand • Activity: Watch video and tally each time the different forms of conflict are mentioned • Movement: You may not go to the restroom or to your locker or get up to sharpen your pencil • Participation: EYES are on the screen. Vocabulary • Population Density: the average number of people who live in an area • Overpopulation: when an area has too many people and is crowded • Globalization: the development of a global society in which people, money, information, and goods flow freely across national borders • Outsourcing: to hire someone outside a company to do work that was once done inside the company • Tsunami: a huge, destructive wave caused by an earthquake or a volcanic eruption • One Child Policy: the official policy of China that limits families to one child • Import: to bring in to a country • Export: to give to another country
