  2. What we “already ” know (or should know ) • Scanning is required for each administration of the following 6 regents in June 2011, August 2011, and January 2012 • Integrated Algebra, Comprehensive English, Global Studies, U.S. History, Living Environment, Earth Science • Scanning is required for all regents June 2012 • A single NYSED approved answer sheet must be used • The RIC Directors agreed to collectively use ONLY Teleform software to design, pre-print, scan, and verify the answer sheets • The June regents scan process can be done during regents week or during the summer prior to August 30 • Note: this process includes loading data to the Data Warehouse

  3. What we “already ” know (or should know ) • The August regents scan process can be done during regents week or prior to September 30 • Note: this process includes loading data to the Data Warehouse • The score finality process is being reviewed and will be updated by OSA/IRS • RICs are not the regents police • Summer schools are also subject to Regents scanning • Scanned test modifications must be reported with the assessment • Non-publics do not have to submit teacher or course information through the data warehouse this year

  4. What we “need ” to know • Official Scores: • The score reported by the teacher! • The score that is scanned and loaded to the SMS during regents week and verified by the teacher is considered to be an official score. • Unofficial Scores: • Scores scanned and loaded to the Data Warehouse (not the SMS) after regents week • Score options: • Therefore we could potentially report 2 scores per regents exam: • Official (Score of Record) teacher score from SMS • Unofficial scanned results score that relates to the item data

  5. What is “left ”to be done Decisions… Decisions.. Decisions !!! • Regents scanning committee: • Asked SED to reinstate this committee to: • Discuss timelines and processes for August regents, including loading to Level 2 • Discuss the handling of exceptions (i.e walk-ins, regional summer schools, out-of-district students, etc.) • Data reporting modifications: • SED considering implementing an additional assessment fact record per regents exam to report the scanned score • Requires new (additional) measure codes for each regents • Provides way to report the scanned test accommodations

  6. Challenges of Pre-printing Answer Sheets - June • Public Schools and Charter Schools • Out-of-district placement students • Answer sheets should be pre-printed with the home district information (i.e for BOCES Special Ed, Alternative Ed) • How? • Non-Public Schools • CIO’s must be identified and SED notified • Students must have a NYSSIS ID and be reported through the Data Warehouse • From where? • Extracts from the SMS • Spreadsheets submitted from district without SMS • Data Warehouse using the Student Grades template • ASAP 2011?

  7. Challenges of Pre-printing Answer Sheets - August • Public Schools , Charter Schools, Non-Public Schools • Home district is responsible to test and report these students • Answer sheets should be pre-printed with the home district information • How? • From where? • Extracts from the summer school SMS (if available) • Spreadsheets submitted from regional summer schools • Data Warehouse using the Student Grades template ??? • ASAP 2011?
