  3. Still the same… • A real job, with a real employer • Paid a salary • Contract of employment, holiday, sick etc. • Qualifications • Support from a training provider • Progression opportunities

  4. What is new? • NMW for Apprentices now £2.68 per hour • Apprenticeship Agreement included within the contract of employment • Apprenticeship Vacancies links to Universal Job Match (JCP system) • AGE grant for employers extended to Dec 31st 2014 • 24+ Loans (level 3 and above) • Traineeships

  5. What is coming? • Employers at the heart of the system • New 1 page frameworks • Majority end-point independent assessment of competency • Grading (pass/merit/distinction) • Minimum duration of 12 months for all • English & Maths ‘stepped-up’ • 8 x Trailblazers • National Apprenticeship Council established • Fully implemented by 2016/2017

What could we be doing? • Supporting learners to access work experience • Support with recruitment process • Preparation of the application form • Interview techniques • Travel training • Personal presentation • Work Ethic • Managing expectations • Competition for jobs • Salary/earnings and working hours • Duration of Apprenticeship and commitment required
