The action or process of making such a request. System: A set of connected things or parts forming a complex whole, in particular. A set of things working together as parts of a mechanism or an interconnecting network.

  4. HARDWARE Keyboard: The keyboard is a device that you can push keys that makes you type. Monitor: The monitor is used to view everything you search. Mouse: A mouse is a remote, that you use to move around on your computer and also to click on things. Desk Top: This refers to the information on the screen or on the files which the computer user has called up and is working on it. Disk: A round, thin object that you can use for storing things.

Computer Measurements • Kilobyte or KB - equals 1024 Characters or consisting of a half page of text • Byte (B) - is one Character consisting of 8 binary digits • Nibble - 4 bits or half a Byte • bits (b) - 0's and 1's lowest form of measurement off or on • Gigabyte or GB - equals 1,073,741,824 characters or 1 thousand novels • Megabyte or MB - equals 1,048,576 Characters or one typical novel • Terabyte or TB - equals 1,099,511,627,776 characters or entire library • 1,024 Petabytes • A yottabyte is 1024 or1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 bytes. • RAM (pronounced ramm) is an acronym for random access memory, a type of computer memory that can be accessed randomly; that is, any byte of memory can be accessed without touching the preceding bytes. RAM is the most common type of memory found in computers and other devices, such as printers.

  9. Who made the first Laptop • The personal computer (PC), which is also called the microcomputer and was designed for use by one person, was first developed for businesses in the early 1970s. Digital Equipment Corporation made the PDP8 for scientific laboratories. Steve Wozniak (1950– ) and Steve Jobs (1955– ), college dropouts who founded Apple Computer in 1976, are credited with inventing the first computer for home use. Working out of a garage, they spent six months developing the prototype (initial model) for Apple I. It was bought by some 600 hobbyists, who had to know how to wire, program, and set up the machine. Apple II was introduced in 1977 as the first fully assembled, programmable microcomputer. Nevertheless this machine still required customers to use their televisions as screens and to use audio cassettes for data storage. The Apple II sold for just under $1,300. That same year Commodore and Tandy introduced affordable personal computers. In 1984, Apple Computer introduced the Macintosh (Mac), which became the first widely used computer with a graphical user interface (GUI). By 1981, IBM (International Business Machines) had introduced a PC that quickly over-took the Mac.

  11. Virus, Worm, Trojan Horse • Definition: Computer worms are malicious software applications designed to spread via computer networks. Computer worms are one form of malware along with viruses and trojans. A person typically installs worms by inadvertently opening an email attachment or message that contains executable scripts. • Through the course of using the Internet and your computer, you may have come in to contact with computer viruses. Many computer viruses are stopped before they can start, but there is still an ever growing concern as to what do computer viruses do and the list of common computer virus symptoms. A computer virus might corrupt or delete data on your computer, use your email program to spread itself to other computers, or even erase everything on your hard disk. • A Trojan horse is a destructive program that masquerades as a benign application. • Unlike viruses, Trojan horses do not replicate themselves but they can be just as destructive. One of the most insidious types of Trojan horse is a program that claims to rid your computer of viruses but instead introduces viruses into your system.

  12. Future of Computers • I think that the computers in the future will be way more advanced. Like you will be able to talk to the computer and have it type for you. Have like the battery life for the computer last a lot long than it does now. And have a touch screen keyboard.
