  2. Solving Equations by Adding and Subtracting x – 8 = 17 + 8 = +8 x = 25

  3. What happens when two signs are beside each other?? x + (-3) = -9 Do Leave, Change, Opposite x -3 = -9 The changes are in red! Now SOLVE!! + 3 = +3 Do the opposite & Add 3 to both sides! x = -6

  4. Try this one!! y – ( -8) = 15 y +8 = 15 - 8 - 8 y = 7

  5. Solving Equations Using Multiplication and Division -5x = 25 -5 -5 x = -5

  6. Try a Division Problem 1 x = 54

  7. Solving Two-Step Equations 5x + 2 = 27 - 2 = -2 5x = 25 5 5 x = 5
