    3. Materials & Methods Prospective non-randomized comparative study 52 eyes of 36 patients that underwent uncomplicated phacoemulsification with either Acrysof Natural SN60AT Acrysof IQ SN60WF Inclusion criteria: No previous ocular diseases or surgeries Axial length between 22 and 28 mm BSCVA, refractive error and scotopic and mesopic pupil size were recorded. Contrast sensitivity was evaluated under Photopic, Mesopic, and dim & Glare conditions Ocular higher order aberrations: measured using the LADARWave aberrometer Scotopic pupils with optical zones of 4 mm and 6 mm. When needed, one drop of 2.5% phenylephrine was used to dilate the pupils to beyond the 6.0 mm zone Centration, tilt, and clarity of the intraocular lens was assessed

Conclusions Acrysof IQ does decrease spherical aberration with concomittant decrease in HOAs More so over large (nightime) pupils than smaller (daytime) pupils Acrysof IQ seems to provide better mesopic contrast sensitivity profile at high grating frequencies Both with or without glare Subclinical decentration and/or tilt of Acrysof IQ does not seem to affect coma levels as compared to Acrysof Natural The current study compared two identical IOLs except for the optic design (spheric vs aspheric) Advantage over other studies in the literature Studies using a larger sample of patients are needed to confirm and extend the results obtained
