Pronomes Pessoais • Subjective Case: são usados como sujeito de oração, são empregados antes dos verbos. • Exemplos: She sings and he dances. / They told me she speaks English well. • Objective Case: são usados como objeto de oração, são empregados após o verbo ou preposições. • Exemplos: Tell them we are here / He saw us last night.

  3. Pronomes Reflexivos • Reflexivo Simples: quando o sujeito pratica e recebe a ação ao mesmo tempo. • Exemplos: John hurt himself yesterday. / Enjoy yourself. • Reflexivo Enfático: usado para enfatizar um sujeito ou um objeto. • Exemplos: She herself will do it. / She will do it herself. • Reflexivo Idiomático: os reflexivos vêm precedidos de BY, significando alone (sozinho). • Exemplos: He lives by himself. / Go ahead. You’re by yourself now.

  5. Possessive Adjectives e Possessive Pronouns Possessive Adjectives • Têm a função de modificar um substantivo dando sentido de posse, devendo, assim, sempre precedê-lo. (Lembre-se da função do adjetivo, que sempre acompanha um substantivo). • Exemplos: This is my car. / We did our homework yesterday.

  7. Possessive Pronouns • Os Possessive Pronouns, por sua vez, substituem o adjetivo possessivo + substantivo. Em geral, os dois tipos de possessivos concordam com o possuidor expresso na oração, e não com a coisa possuída. • Exemplos: • We have our problems. They have theirs too. • She is wearing her new dress. • The cat is drinking its milk. • Their car is here. Where is ours?

Notas: • O pronome one tem seu próprio possessivo: one’s. • One should trust one’s friend. • Uso especial: one of + possessive adjective + substantive plural • a/an + substantive singular + of + possessive pronoun • Exemplos: • a friend of hers (one of her friends) • a car of theirs (one of their cars)
