FY09 Defense and MilCon Budget Highlights • Defense and MilCon/VA Appropriations Act signed on Sept 30, 2008, allowing the military to transition into Fiscal Year 2009 fully funded. • The USMC (green) Budget: • Received $24.9B which is approx. $170M less than the President’s request. • The USMC (blue) BISOG Budget: • Received $9.32B • The Congress passed and the President signed the NDAA. • GROW THE FORCE - USMC fully funded to support the planned growth to 194,000 en route to 202K and three balanced MEFs by FY11.

  4. What this Means for our Corps? • QOL – FY09 Budget takes care of Marines and their Families by: • Over $2B in MilCon. • -$1.2B of that will support the BEQ initiative (12,370 new spaces) • Continues support of our Wounded Warriors • SHIPBUILDING – Navy received $933M toward 10th LPD. • AVIATION – Full funding for the MV-22, KC-130J, and CH-53K. • Additionally: -JSF - Cut 1 STOVL JSF and • alternate engine funded. • UH-1Y (-$40M) = (2) aircraft. • - (11)UH-1Y and (5) AH-1Z • funded.
