  2. ENVIRONMENT Where do we live? What resources do we have? What are my responsibilities?

  3. Where did the plague come from? • The plague most likely originated in the Gobi desert of central Asia.

  4. How did the plaguespread from Asia to Europe? • The plague was spread by trading goods from one place to another. • Ships carrying infected rats spread the Plague to many European port cities.

  5. How did people get the plague? • People caught the plague if they were bitten by infected fleas. • Once people were infected, they could give it to other humans.

  6. How fast did the plague spread? • The Black Death began in Europe in 1347. • The Plague was over by 1351.

  7. What happened to the population of Europe? • The population of Europe was roughly cut in half by the time the disease was over.

  8. Why did the plague spread so rapidly? • There was a lack of scientific and medical knowledge.

  9. What effect did the plague have on feudalism? • Feudalism practically ended after the spread of the plague.

  10. Why did feudalism end after the plague? • A shortage of labor allowed serfs to demand higher wages. • Basically, they were no longer serfs.
