  2. Letter 1: Friendly Introductory Letter • autobiographical letter to introduce themselves • practice proper question asking • Use of a graphic organizer to practice effective paragraphs and organize thoughts.

  3. Letter 2: Narrative Letter • Writers will share a life event or experience with their pal. • Letters should be written to entertain their pal • examples could be a funny, sad, or a scary story • letters should include a conclusion that has some insight into the writer's thoughts(ex. takeaway, lesson learned)

  4. Letter 3: Expository Letter • Focus will be on explaining • Examples include: family traditional/ritual, school rule, the environment they live in, or an explanation of an object that is of importance to the writer. • writers will continue to work on writing effective paragraphs including an introduction and concluding paragraphs

  5. Letter 4: Persuasive Letter • Specific goal to prompt their pal to take some sort of action. • Examples include: persuade to read a specific type of book or other reading material, watch a specific TV show or movie, join or start a club, or any other action that is of importance to the writer. • Use of graphic organizer to outline points that need to be made in the letter.
