Important Definitions • Gender • A socially-constructed classification that ascribes to masculine and feminine characteristics • Gender Non-Conforming • displaying traits not normally associated with biological sex • FTM/MTF • Female to Male/Male to Female • Transgender • Umbrella term for genderqueer, transsexuals, cross-dressers, and people who identify on the gender spectrum

  4. Common Misconceptions of Transgender People • They all physically transition • They all have Gender Identity “Dysphoria” or “Gender Identity Disorder” • They are confused • How does this effect their sexual identity?
