  6. The Health Careers Resource Center • The Health Careers Resource Center (HCRC) is a simple but dramatic enhancement for how the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) educates and trains more health professionals sooner to serve our healthcare community. • The HCRC was created to remove barriers and accelerate the completion and employment of DCCCD health professions graduates

  7. Need for the HCRC • With more than 25,000 students taking classes in preparation for enrollment in health professions programs, and approximately 1,350 students currently enrolled in credit programs per year, and approximately 2,000 students completing continuing education health related programs each year, the HCRC has become a central point of health advising services and employment options for the DCCCD and the healthcare employer community

  8. Need for the HCRC • According to the Department of Labor, the healthcare and social assistance areas are expected to increase by 5.6 million jobs nationally from 2010 through 2020, with nursing increasing by 712,000 jobs, and home health aides by 706,000 jobs.

Health Careers Resource Center • The HCRC is the first model of its kind in the nation and was designed to provide an integrated, comprehensive solution to the healthcare workforce by providing advising on right-fit placement, program selection, training potential healthcare workers of the future, and connecting potential employers with healthcare providers.

  12. Vision and Mission Vision • To provide exceptional advising, information, and resources to healthcare students and employers. Mission • The mission of the DCCCD Health Careers Resource Center is to assist current and potential students to better understand their career options, make health professions informed choices by identifying and pursuing the array of health programs within the Dallas County Community College District, provide transfer information, and to serve as the District resource center of information on health careers, employment trends, and health educational programs.

  13. Priorities: Inform/Advise/Connect 1. Connect healthcare students with employers.
