  2. Who was ixchel • Ixchel is the Mayan goddess of many things and those things are : fertility & healing, The moon, earth, pregnant women, protection , punctuation, falling or pouring waters. • Ixchel is a principal figure in the pantheon of Mayan gods.

  3. How they worshiped ixchel • They worshiped by having ritual feasts, which were given in her honour. • Mayans also worshiped Ixchel by sacrificing people. They would hold them with string at the top of a pyramid, then let go. They rolled down the side hitting all of the steps.

  4. What she wore • Ixchel wore a red scarf with green earrings and a necklace with yellow bangles. She has a snake on her head and she carries a pot of water.

  5. Old life • Ixchel was originally married to the earth god Voltan. Ixchel then fell in love with the moon good Itzamna. Itzamna was considered the founder Mayan because he taught them how to read, write and grow corn.

  6. LIFE today • when Ixchel became his consort, she gave birth to four powerful sons known as the Pacabs , who continue to hold up in the sky in each of the four directions.
