Our mission • The European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to improve the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infection-related diseases. This is achieved by promoting and supporting research, education, training, and good medical practice.

  3. About ESCMID • Non-profit organisation founded in 1983 • 4'100 regular members all over the world. Combined with its associated and affiliated memberships, ESCMID reaches out to over 33'000 professionals.  • Governed by an Executive Committee of 8 members • Advised by an European Council of national representatives • Holdsscientificcongresses and meetings • Organises postgraduate courses and ESCMID SummerSchool • Supports 21 thematicstudy groups & standing committee on harmonisation of antimicrobialsusceptibilitytesting EUCAST • Worktogetherwith 52 Collaborative Centres • Produces the journal ClinicalMicrobiology and Infection (CMI).
