INTRODUCTION “IN THE TIME OF THE BUTTERFLIES” IS AN INTERESTING HISTORICAL FICTION BOOK ABOUT THREE WOMEN WHO FOUGHT FOR THE FREEDOM OF THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC WHEN IT WAS IN THE REGIMEN OF THE DICTATOR “RAFAEL LEONIDAS TRIJILLO”. THE CHAPTER THAT WE ARE GOING TO ANALIZE IS #9 WHICH IS FULL OF NEW AND INTERESTING MOMENTS IN THE LIFE OF THE MIRABAL SISTERS.

  4. SUMMARIZER Most impotant events • 1.The interview woman came back to ask questions to Dede again. • 2. Jaimito took Dede’s children because he doesn’t want their children without danger because of the sisters. • 3. Manolo Tavares meet Minerva and join forces with her.

  5. WHAT IS A NEW CHANGE TO THE PLOT? • The new change to the plot is that the sisters are more united to fight against Trujillo and because of that they go to the jail.

  6. SOMETHING IMPORTANT SOMEONE SAID • Dede: “ I followed my husband. I didn’t get involved ” • Minerva: “ I hate to involve you, but since you 're in charge of the family finances. • What was the main idea of this section? • The main idea of this section is how was Dede’s feelings when the sister try involved her and explain what happened in her that she lost the confidence of Jaimito.

HOW DO THE NEW EVENTS AFFECT THE STORY? • The new events affect the history that will cause something like unbalance between all of the stuff that are happening there. • What do you think will happen next now? • I think that will happen next is that Jaimito will break up with Dede and the war will begin.

CONNECTOR IN THIS PART I AM GOING TO TALK ABOUT SOME MOMENTS IN WHICH MINERVA WAS RELATED TO OUR NEW CHARACTER “MANOLO” MINERVA START A GROUP OF PEOPLE AGAINST TRUJILLO IN WHICH MANOLO WAS IMVOLVE. THEY WERE AGAINST ALL THE ABUSES AND ALL THE BAD THINGS THAT “TUJILLO” DONE TO ALL OF THEM. FOR EXAMPLE SENDING MINERVA TO A “SOLITARIA” WHICH IS A THING THAT USSUALLY IN SOME PRISONS USE TO DO THAT TO PUNISH THE PRISONERS.

  12. SECOND CONNECTION MINERVA , MARIA TERESA , MANOLO AND THE REST OF PEOPLE OF THEIR GROUP WERE TRASPORTING WEAPONS FROM CUBA TO THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. IT IS RELATED TO OUR TIME BECAUSE IN A COUNTRY THAT IS ABOUT TO BECOME IN WAR WITH OTHER THEY USSUALLY GET SOME HELP FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY BUT IN THIS CASE IT WAS A REVOLUTION AGAINST THE PRESIDENT OF THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC.

  13. THIRD CONNECTION MINERVA WAS TAKEN TO JAIL BECAUSE TRUJILLO NOW KNOW THAT MINERVA WAS ONE OF THE LIDERS OF THE GRUPS THAR WERE AGAINST HIM. ALSO HE WAS MORE ANGRY BECAUSE HE WAS INTERESTED IN MINERVA BUT SHE DID NOT LIKE HIM AT ALL.

  14. DISCUSSION DIRECTOR • WHY TRUJILLO WANT TO KILL THE MIRAVAL SISTERS? Trujillo wants to kill the mirabal sister because they were involved in one organisation against him and he think that they were a threat for him. • WHY WERE THEY TRANSPORTING WEAPONDS FROM CUBA? They were transporting weaponds from cuba because they were going to fight against him.

  15. WHY JAIMITO DON’T WANT DEDÉ TO GET INVOLVE IN THE REVOLUTION? Because if she get involve she will put her family in danger and their children wouldn’t have a good and a safe future. WHY DEDÉ DON’T WANT HER SISTERS TO PUT THEIR WEAPONDS IN HER GARDEN? Because if the police find them they can go to jail. WHAT HAPPEND WITH THE MIRAVAL HUSBAND’S WHEN THEY WERE IN JAIL? They suffered so much in there. They were tortured specially manolo was punish with whep and hits.

  16. CONCLUSION IN CONCLUTION THIS WAS A GREAT BOOK FOR US. IT TELL US SO MUCH ABOUT OUR CULTURE THAT WE DON’T KNOW BEFORE. IN OUR OPPINION CHAPTER #9 WAS VERY EXPLAINFULL AND WE GET SO MUCH INFORMATION FROM THE READING.
