  1. Steps to Perform Integration Testing What is integration testing? Integration testing is software testing type in which individually tested software modules are combined to ensure that these modules work fine with each other and are properly integrated. What are the steps involved in performing integration tests? Prepare integration test plan: It is very essential to prepare a test plan as it helps to keep the testing process on track. Decide the integration testing approach: There are various integration testing approaches, namely the big bang approach, incremental approach, top-down approach, bottom-up approach, hybrid/sandwich approach. So, it is very important to decide the type of integration test approach before starting the test. Identify critical modules to test on priority: Identify the critical modules that need high priority integration testing. Identify the interface: It is essential to examine the interface while designing the test cases and test scenarios. It is very important to reconcile interfaces. Check the integration testing conditions: Test conditions should be prepared for the processing of the integration tests for each module. These must be documented once the conditions are listed so that they can be used while performing integration tests. Choose the automation tool and run the test: After preparing the test scripts and test cases, an automation tool has to be selected. Once the automation tool for integration testing is decided, execute the test. Track the defects, record, and save the results: Once the test is completed, check the defects, if there are any defects report them for fixing, and save the results for further reference. Retest to validate the completeness of test: Retest the whole software to ensure that completeness has been achieved. The whole process should be recorded and the final result should be saved for reference.
