This project explores the recognition of dialing tones based on Dual Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) theory. By recording a series of dialing tones and inputting them into MATLAB, we can play back audio files, perform Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) analysis, and graphically represent the signals obtained. The program identifies numbers dialed during the runtime through advanced signal processing techniques. The experimental setup addresses the impact of hardware, software, and signal quality on tone recognition, highlighting results that demonstrate improved recognition even in noisy environments.

Theory • Record a series of dialing tones • Input signal to Matlab • Play sound file • Perform FFT • Represent signal graphically • Output numbers dialed
How it Works • Recording • Run Program • Input file name of recording • Program runs / runtime • Displays number and graphs
Experimental Setup • Hardware • Software • Types of different sound scenarios
Data Results • Higher quality signal with little noise • Noise and signal of similar power • Poor signal quality with noise
Conclusion • Equipment • Environment • Run Time • Efficiency
