The human excretory system plays a crucial role in maintaining bodily health by excreting wastes, eliminating useless by-products, and eradicating harmful chemical build-ups. Key organs involved include the kidneys, urethra, lungs, sweat glands, and liver. This system works alongside the circulatory system to filter out toxins and reclaim essential nutrients. Discover the main functions of the excretory system and the processes by which it keeps the body in balance. Participate in quiz questions to test your knowledge!

Excretory System By: Angelica Lafayette & Ravon Cornelious
Functions: • The main function is to excrete, or get rid of, wastes. • Eliminates useless by-products excreted from cells. • Eradicates harmful chemical build-ups.
Organs: • Kidney • Urethra • Lungs • Sweat Glands • Ureters • Skin • Liver • Anus • Bladder • Lungs • Trachea • Intestines
Working Process: • As the heart pumps blood around the body, the blood carries fresh oxygen to various cells and organs, then picks up waste products like carbon dioxide, salt and water. • The Circulatory System carries these waste components in blood, driven by the heart, to the main organ of the Excretory System, the Kidney. • As the waste products arrive, the Kidneys perform a filtration process that removes hazardous toxins and products that the body can not use from water and nutrients that can be reclaimed and recycled.
