  4. Why was New France insecure? • British founded the 13 colonies (New England) • Hudson Bay Company to the north & west of France • British had poseesion of Acadia 1713

  5. British needed the support of the First Nations People • First Nations helped in providing better fur trade canoes, snowshoes and dogsleds). • Relations between Firt Nations and New France was improving • In 1701, 1300 representatives of more than 40 First Nations peoples met leaders of New France in Montreal, including the Iroquois Confederacy. • The Great Peace of Montreal treaty was signed.
