  4. SB 1.5 and 1.6. Reader response criticism Quick Write (5 minutes) Respond in the Journal section of Comp Book. • What do you read? (This can include books, news articles, social media websites, etc.) • Where do you read?What medium do you use (paper book, e-book, etc.)? • Why do you read? • Is your understanding of a text affected by where and why you read? Explain.

  5. SB 1.5 and 1.6. Reader response criticism • Today, we will be analyzing the poem, “Ah, Are You Digging on My Grave?” • Complete the “Title” portion of your Practice Analysis with TPCASTT handout: What are your first impressions of the title?

  6. SB 1.5 and 1.6. Reader response criticism • Read “Ah, Are You Digging on My Grave?” by Thomas Hardy. • Answer in your composition books (1 minute): What is your first impression of the poem?
