The tone of the poem was made by Poe’s unique way of using gloomy symbols and ideas. He used poetic rhyme patterns throughout the entire poem. “The Raven” was well thought out and prepared by Poe. The combination of metaphors, symbols and personifications were perfectly position throughout the entire poem.

  10. Conclusion • Edgar Allan Poe was an artist and a creator of unforgettable tales of horror. He may be best known as a short story writer, but he was also a great poet who composed poems that expressed his emotions and feelings. Poe lived a lonely life and experienced a great deal of suffering. Poe’s life experiences cause him to struggle throughout his life with extreme sadness, depression, and isolation. I believe this combination of emotions drove Poe to alcoholism which resulted in his death at an early age. “Edgar Allan Poe died in the hospital on Sunday, October 7, 1849” (Giordano).Edgar Allan Poe was the greatest writer of short stories, poetry, science fiction, and horror stories of his time
