  3. Who is LinkRight , LLC ? • Founded in July, 2003 by John Cooper and Rodney Chew to provide Authentication and Tracking solutions for Enterprise users of software • LinkRight, LLC has extensive experience in delivering enterprise class solutions • Milestones • Samson Single Signon Solution v1.5 released Oct. 2003 • Tracker v1.0 released Mar. 2004 • Customers • Mayo Clinic, Scottsdale, Mayo Clinic Jacksonville 3

  4. Tracker Motivation • LinkRight recognizes the need for end-user tools that allow the efficient analysis and utilization of software resources • Licensing teams are being asked to answer more questions about licensing with less time to perform the analysis • Automation is required to make the process more efficient • End-user organizations attempt to create tools but are constrained by cost, programming resources and time • Analysis on Demand • Quickly answer the management “what if ?” • Automation allows more questions to be answered • Intelligent data repository • Cubed data model dramatically improves analysis times on large data models • Remix process requires large data models, history and trend making the process difficult. • Process begging for automation • Automation facilitates more efficient remixing 4

  5. Tracker Purpose • Software Investment Planning (SIP) The ability to achieve the most efficient mix of software products to achieve your organizations goals ! • Manage your software resources and prepare for future buying or upgrade decisions • Quickly analyze changes in usage behavior • Understand the effects of financial changes • Identify the benefits or pitfalls of new licensing models • Provide timely answers to business questions • Meet new business demands - remixing • Audit the use of products within your organization • Stretch your software dollars • Understand the dynamics of acquisitions or divestitures • 1 + 1 = 3? Or 1.5? 5

  6. Design Goals • Tracker provides companion capabilities to FlexLM ™ • Tracker utilizes data generated by Macrovision SamSuite ™ • Tracker increases the value of SAM generated data by enabling advanced analytic capabilities • Tracker imports FlexLM™ usage data via GUI admin tool and command line batch tools. • Tracker provides advanced product use resolution based on product to feature mappings defined by the user or imported from Product Mapping Library. • Tracker utilizes a periodic rollup of feature use data into daily and monthly totals by FlexLM ™ feature and Product. • Tracker generates graphs and charts of historical peak software utilization by: • FlexLM ™ Feature • Product to Feature Mapping 6

  7. Design Goals - 2 • Tracker Remix Calculator assists you in determining the proper mix of software to purchase/support. The Remix Calculator displays the following information about each product in a use-defined software pool: • Current License Count • Peak license use count for time period • Peak count during time period • Denial count during time period • “Effective peak” – the peak software count that would allow a user defined “acceptable denial” percentage. • The peak software use trend (up/flat/down) • A suggested license count based on the above data, as well as a user defined additional use and buffer percent. • The Calculator also displays several dollar costs for the software pools: • a.Cost of current pool • b.Cost of pool at peak • c.Cost of pool at suggestebd count • d.Cost of pool at user defined count 7

  8. Features • Usage Over Time - helps you quickly determine what licenses to renew and which to drop. • Peak Utilization - reveals the peak usage over time to optimize your license purchases to manage peak demand and avoid the productivity issues associated with license denials. • Effective Peak Usage - the quantity of licenses required to ensure users do not encounter denials an "acceptable denial percentage" of time for a given period. • Usage Efficiency - enables you to understand what percentage of each license is being used, helping you evaluate new purchase and renewal decisions. 8

  11. Future Implementation • Rollups of data by user, host • Export of graph and remix calculator data to Excel • Ability to gather/track software not licensed with FlexLM. • Expanded product/feature mapping library • Chargeback Module 11

  12. Summary • Software Investment Planning (SIP) requires automation to efficiently perform the process! • Enterprises need tools to better manage the software resources available • Tracker provides an efficient, easy to use environment for SIP • Tracker speeds up the analysis of license usage, making decisions regarding usage and budget more btimely and accurate. • Tracker provides significant intelligence in the never ending battle to manage your $$$ software budget $$$ 12
