  • if you know where you are going and why it is important, your proposals will be stronger and more compelling

  • use the web to search – the “style” of funding – amount, duration, topics, hidden priorities

  • understand the modes for funding
  • find out about flexibilities (e.g., supplements, SGERs, etc.)
