    5. Step 2: Check Assigned Course Category You have been randomly assigned to take Religion 121 or Writing 111 in fall semester (not both courses) Click on Add New Schedule. Using the Pull Down Menu in Course column (blank course slots) Pull Down first menu to find assigned course category (Religion or Writing). Exceptions: AP/IB Credit: If you have a 5 score on Lit./Comp. or Lang./Comp, you do not need to take Writing 111, only Religion 121. American Conversations: You do not need to take Writing 111. Great Conversation: You do not need to take Religion 121 or Writing 111 (must complete full first year of Great Con to satisfy BTS-B & FYW credits) International Students: Do not register for Religion 121 or Writing 111 online. You will take a writing placement test on Saturday, September 3rd to determine which writing course you should take.

    6. Step 3: Selecting Courses Click on Return to Schedule List Review Course Descriptions Assigned Religion 121 http://www.stolaf.edu/offices/registrar/rel.html OR Assigned Writing 111 http://www.stolaf.edu/offices/registrar/ge.html Select 5-8 sections that sound interesting.

    7. Step 4: Making Schedules Click Add a New Schedule Select your Number 1 Choice Section Click Save and Validate Schedule Click Return to Schedule List Only ONE section should be chosen per schedule and Add at least FIVE different schedules Click here to see an example of a schedule list: http://www.stolaf.edu/offices/registrar/FYSchedList.html

    8. Step 5: Add Alternate Schedules Repeat Step 4 to Add Alternate Section Choices Submit 5-8 schedules. (1 section choice/schedule) Order them according to interest. Only submitting one schedule will most likely result in your being placed at random in a section that has room. The SIS likes lots of different section options!!! Tools Change Section Order: ?? (arrows) Copy: (2 sheets of paper) Edit ? (paper and pencil) Delete ?

    9. Step 6: Tracking The Tracking Tool: The pick table shows results if registration were run right now. Tracking tool will be activated after students begin submitting section choices. Updates often. Gives you a sense of how popular your section choices are and your randomly assigned ranking (which determines the order of students during registration). Tracking Tool Results do NOT guarantee results!!! ** Check back periodically while registration period is open Modify order and Add more section choices as more students submit their schedules. **Even if the tracking tool suggested that you might get into a class, make sure that you keep alternative schedules in your list of schedules.
