  3. Locke’s governing • Nature of people: -people were subject to natural law -people are basically good; people use their intellect to control their natural instincts. -If one acts negatively, it is because bad institutions have forced them to revert to their instincts to survive. • Definition of freedom: ability to enjoy health, liberty, possessions and happiness. • Style of government: democratic • Nature of social contract: -wealthy men should elect in gov’t, no women or poor people. -government should protect people’s freedom while people should obey government rules. -people should give the right to judge and punish others to the government. Unlike Locke’s ideology, We support Plato’s ideology and have created our own based on his beliefs.

  5. Plato’s governing • Nature of people: - good and rational -humans are driven by their reason and intellect, rather than animalistic instincts. -weak-willed; need to be led. • Definition of freedom: the ability to pursue intellectual goods, in such a society everyone would be better off. • Style of government: Authoritarian • Nature of social contract: -relationship between the people and government would be similar to that between parents and children. -very few individual rights because individual rights are less important than the needs of society. • Rebellion in society: -guardians have power to deal harshly with rebellions because they would be the only ones who would clearly understand the needs of all members of society.,
