  1. FABOA Florida Association of Benthologists, Orlando Area A sub-group of the FAB organization began brainstorming over more specific benthic issues within the Orlando area.

  2. Participants included biologists from state, county, local, andprivate entities: • Biointegrity Consulting • Central District FDEP • Lake County • Marquis Consulting • Orange County • Reedy Creek Imp. Dist. • Seminole County

  3. How Did We Get Here? • We had concerns with local watershed issues such as hurricane impacts and non-native species invasion. • We had a desire to be consistent with nomenclature of local macroinvertebrates. • We wanted to set-up a “round robin” exchange of macroinvertebrate samples among attendees.

  4. Topics Broadened • Audits • FAB Issues • Macroinvertebrate Database • Revisions of Water Quality Standards • SCI SOP purposed changes • Socializing!

  5. Recommendations • Benthologists throughout Florida should be encouraged to establish groups within their own watershed. Next FABOA meeting: May 22nd,1:30 PM at FDEP, Maguire Blvd.
