Causes of Death 100 years ago vs. today THEN NOW Cardiovascular disease/stroke Cancer (Lung #1) Other lung diseases (ex: Emphysema and COPD) Accidents (Automobile #1 and Drunk Driving #1 for teens) Suicide Homicide Diabetes II Pneumonia Influenza Tuberculosis/lung infections Fevers (scarlet, yellow, etc…) Small pox Polio Digestive diseases-Typhoid (from unsanitary conditions)

  8. Conclusions… Death in the past was mostly caused by infections and causes beyond our control. People are now dying from CONTROLLABLE causes. It is our DECISIONS and BEHAVIORS that are mostly killing us now.
