WP 2 – Repertories Concordance • Demands: • Matching of Printed Piccard and Piccard-Online • Piccard-Online based on Piccard-collection with 92.000 watermarks • Printed Piccard: 52.000 watermarks • Proof of conformity • Amount of similar watermarks clear, yet • Aim: • One Application: Piccard-Online for Bernstein-Workspace 2

  4. WP 2 – Repertories Concordance • Assumption for Mapping • Digitized Printed Piccard • Creating metadata • Isolation watermarks • Measuring watermarks • Comparison of watermarks • Elimination of duplicates • Integration of remaining watermarks in Piccard-Online 4

WP 2 – Repertories Concordance • Approach: • Preliminary work done concerning digitizing and metadata • First meeting concerning technical realisation: Stuttgart in October 2007 • Presentation of tools based on Matlab • Partner: KSBM, DUT, LABW • Evaluation of tools • Second meeting in Stuttgart March 2008 • Partner: LABW and KSBM 5

WP 2 – Repertories Concordance • Difficulties: • First Problem of Matlab: Licensing • Different licence educational institution and commercial/not profit institutions • LABW was not excepted as an educational institution • Testing of “Printed Piccard Scissors” was done by KSBM (reason just ¼ of licensing costs as for LABW) • Second Problem: functionality of tools need to be modified 6

WP 2 – Repertories Concordance • Results: • Isolation of watermarks in digitized Printed Piccard is finished • Isolation of watermarks in Piccard-Online -> evaluation of “Piccard-Online Scissors” based motif “Balance”-> Basis for the modification of isolation and cutting tool as well comparing tool • Not finished yet, work still in progress 7
