  1. What is the difference between Scotch, Whiskey and Bourbon? For long, drinkers have found themselves confused amidst the different types of Whiskies. What is SCOTCH, BOURBON, TENNESSEE, RYE and so many others? This video, we try to answer this basic question. Remember "ALCOHOL" because no great story has ever started with eating salad. Well, What is Bourbon? Bourbon got its name from an area known as "Old Bourbon" in Kentucky, is a whiskey that's distilled from corn. The grain mash must be at least 51 percent corn. What is Scotch? Scotch is technically whisky (spelled without the "e") that has been distilled and matured in Scotland. It is made mostly from malted barley. What separates the Tennessee Whiskey from others is a method of filtering called the Lincoln County Process in which the whiskey is filtered through charcoal before going into the casks. The most famous Tennessee whiskey out there is Jack Daniel's. Canadian whisky is actually interchangeable with the term "rye whisky" in Canada. Rye whisky, as compared to other whiskeys, is typically lighter and smoother. For a while, rye was a popular addition in this. Irish whiskey comes from unmalted barley. It is also distilled three times and has to reach its maturity of 3 years. It must be distilled in Ireland.
