    1. STUDENT NEIGHBORHOOD FIRE ALARM SYSTEM UPGRADE PROJECT The purpose of this presentation is to familiarize each occupant residing within the University of Dayton Student Neighborhood to the newly installed fire detection systems. These systems have been installed for the protection of our student residents.

    2. Fire Alarm Control Panel As shown here, is located in the basement area of each building. This panel is the central processor for this system and is for authorized personnel use only.

    3. Photoelectric Smoke Detector The purpose of this device is to detect the presence of smoke in the room and place the system in an alarm condition. The smoke detection devices are located in each bedroom, outside of each bedroom, on each floor, and in the basement above the fire alarm control panel.

    4. Manual Pull Station This device will indicate an alarm condition when the pull handle is operated. To place the system in alarm you simply pull down on the handle. This device must be re-set by authorized personnel before the alarm condition can be cleared.

    5. Carbon Monoxide Detector This device will detect the presence of carbon monoxide and warn the occupants of the impending danger. Upon detection of carbon monoxide, this device will sound a warning, with an internal audible alarm, place the system in an alarm status and activate the fire alarm horns and strobes, both inside and outside the residence. When this device is in alarm, you are to evacuate immediately.

    6. Remote Display Panel This panel is located inside the main entrance of the residence. The purpose of this device is to show the status of the system, normal condition, alarm condition, or trouble condition. There will be a custom message displayed identifying the location of the alarm or trouble point. This is the same information displayed on the alarm panel in the basement. This panel must be re-set by authorized personnel.

    7. Horn Strobe Appliance This device will flash a highly visible strobe light as well as a very loud audible alarm tone. These devices are located on each living level. When this device is in alarm you are to evacuate the building immediately.

    8. Exterior Strobe Appliance This device is located on the front of each building. This device is a strobe light only device and will be activated only when the inside strobe device is in alarm. The purpose of this device is to direct emergency personnel to the exact location of the emergency.
