  3. Arnold Lobel Arnold Lobel wrote and illustrated many, many books during his lifetime. His drawings of cats, mice, pigs, and other animals are favorites of children everywhere. Arnold Lobel grew up in Schenectady, New York, where he lived with his grandparents. When he graduated from art school, he married Anita Kempler, and they moved to New York. He and his wife had two children, Adam and Adrianne. When he first started drawing pictures for children's books, Arnold Lobel got many of his ideas from the cartoons his children liked to watch. Arnold Lobel used to tell stories and illustrate them to entertain his classmates when he was a young boy. He said that taking books out of the library was one of the things he loved to do most when he was a child

  10. Cause Effect • Cause - Toad held the kite and ran. • Effect – The kite went up, then fell. • Cause – The Robins told him to give up. • Effect – Toad gave up. • Cause – The Robins’ mean words. • Effect - ?

  11. Cause Effect Sometimes its easier to think backwards… • Effect – The kite climbed higher and higher. • Cause – Toad did not give up, so he eventually caught the wind. • Effect – Toad and Frog are so happy! • Cause – They finally got the kite to fly!
