  3. 導讀 2.介紹作者生平、寫作背景: 1969年生，台南人。因為受到軍中同袍的影響，工專畢業的他一腳踏進了電影圈。1997年，魏德聖因為一則新聞報導對「霧社事件」著迷。2000年，魏德聖完成講述霧社事件始末的劇本「賽德克．巴萊」，獲得新聞局優良電影劇本獎的肯定。由於太太一句話的鼓勵，2004年他不惜斥資兩百萬拍攝「賽德克．巴萊」五分鐘試片，這部氣勢磅礡的影片在網路上廣為流傳，同年並出版《賽德克．巴萊》小說。
