  2. Project WILD Curriculum How Many Bears Can Live in the Forest? (pg. 23) • Content Area: Biology • Time of Year: Fall • Standards: 9-12 .L.3.1 Students are able to identify factors that can cause changes in stability of populations, communities and ecosystems. • Additional Objectives: • Students will differentiate abiotic and biotic factors • Students will describe how changes in habitat effect animal survival. • Students will describe the community interactions taking place in the scenarios.

Networking – Darwin Daugaard Quantum Mechanics Content Area: Chemistry Time of Year: Fall – Second Quarter Standards: 9-12 .P.1.1 Students are able to use the Periodic Table to determine the atomic structure of elements, valence number, family relationships, and regions ~Implemented Additional Curriculum to enhance student knowledge of atomic structure and quantum mechanics.

  4. Paper Plate Orrery and Quantum Mechanics Content Area: 8th Earth Science Time of Year: Spring – 4th Quarter Standards: 8.E.2.1. Students are able to compare celestial bodies within the solar system using composition, size, and orbital motion. ~Implemented Additional Lab Curriculum ~ Modification: use permanent marker to color brads for the beads in the structure; have students evaluate the differences b/t the model and actual earth revolution. Evaluation: Upon conclusion of Lab have students use the plate to predict which constellations should be visible for the time of year they are being built. Have students compare their answers to observation made that evening and report back.

Content Area: 7th Life Science and 10th Biology Time of Year: Fall – Quarter 1; Introduction to Class Standards: 7.L.1.3 Students are able to classify organisms by using the currently recognized kingdoms; 9-12.L.1.2 Students are able to classify organisms using characteristics and evolutionary relationship of major taxa ~Implemented Additional Lab Curriculum ~ Modification: bring your own water source and manipulate it. Nonliving items will float and move around in the water. Evaluation: Ask students to investigate using their text and their observations characteristics necessary for life. Have them report using their observations why it is necessary for living organisms to have ALL characteristics.
