  5. Sessions Outline Teacher Leader Sessions: “Teacher Leaders as Catalysts for Change” Part One in Fall, Part Two in Spring (Target audience is the same)

Teacher Leaders as Catalysts for Change This training is designed for teachers who have assumed leadership roles such as mentor teacher, instructional coach, departmental chair, lead teacher, Summer Institute team member, PLC/data team leader, other master teacher leaders and district and school leaders. These Teacher Leadership sessions are designed to support teachers with the North Carolina evaluation standards related to leadership. Participants will deepen their knowledge and examine the impact of change on self and others as they apply the Concerns-Based Adoption Model (CBAM) to the role of teacher leaders. The skills and tools honed in these sessions will be used to support teachers during times of challenge as innovations, new practices and standards are introduced and applied in daily work. This training will include two face-to-face sessions, one in the fall and another in the spring. Online support meetings will occur between the fall and spring sessions so participants can build an on-going collaborative community with colleagues across the region and state. Participants should register for both the fall and spring sessions.

Group Reflections and Ideas Gleaned from Articles/Discussion • CBAM= Central Focus • Tie in to ASCD Teacher Leader Roles article • Glean ideas and activities from Beth’s TOY presentation related to defining Teacher Leadership and making connections with NC Teacher Evaluation Instrument and national teacher leader standards. Activities to be included will be: • Perspective Wheel Activity around change issue • Modeling applying CBAM to a previous NC initiative such as Common Core or the NCEES • Role play or skit based on a scenario around Homebase ( include varying levels of CBAM) • Follow Up sessions online will allow participants to practice CBAM skills in context of their roles and responsibilities
