The History Of the Organization The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society began in 1979 Two years before the NGO began, Paul Watson (the founder) had parted ways with Green Peace because of his drastic ideals. "Captain Paul Watson is the world's most aggressive, most determined, most active and most effective defender of wildlife."- Farley Mowat (Farley Mowat is a good friend of the Captain)
