  4. Queen Victoria changes she made • Britain became the worlds most powerful empire • You had to go to school • The number of people in Britain doubled

  5. Dr Barnado his life • Dr Barnado was born in Dublin in 1845 • He became a Dr in 1876 • He noticed that the east of London was poor • A street child called Jim Jarvis took Barnado to see all of the other street children • He died in 1900

  6. Dr Barnado changes he made • He opened a school called Hope Place • He opened lots of homes for boys and girls • He has a charity that started in Victorian times and is still running now

  7. Lord Shaftsbury his life • He was a Victorian politician who attempted to improve children’s lives • At the age of 25 he became a member of parliament
