  1. Declaration of Independence and The America Revolution.

  2. Jan 2nd and 3rd • Students who are not missing any work and are passing the class with a 70% or higher get to watch the film, The Patriot. • Students with missing work or with a grade lower than a 70%, will have the entire class to redo assignments.

  3. Important Dates • Friday Jan 10th, ALL MISSING WORK IS DUE • Friday, Jan 17th, Quarter 2 ends • Review Day/ Benchmarks for Social Studies- 1/10 and 1/13 • Test on American Revolution- 1/14 and 1/15 • Notebook Check 1/16 and 1/17- get your Class Work (CW) section in order.

  4. Warm-up: 1/6 and 1/7 • Have you ever rebelled against an authority figure? (parent, teacher, ect) • Why did you choose to rebel?

  6. The Continental Congress meets in Philadelphia, PA to discuss what to do. They decide to write the Declaration of Independence, the most epic of all break-up letters.

  8. In partners discuss the following ideas. • In what way did the King of Britain's actions make colonial independence inevitable? • Is the Declaration of Independence a radical document? Explain. • What issues did the Declaration of Independence fail to resolve regarding equality? Regarding the newly established national government? • What overall impact has the Declaration of Independence had on our nation? On the nations of the world?

  9. Warm-up: 1/8 and 1/9 • Write down the following questions. We will answer them after viewing a brainpop. • What overall impact has the Declaration of Independence had on our nation? • On the nations of the world? • Write down your homework and turn in any missing work to the orange bin.

  10. Today we will • Complete our understanding of the Battle of the American Revolution • Examine life as an apprentice in the 1770s • Study for our Unit test that is next Tuesday and Wednesday.

  11. Today in class…. • We will split into 2 groups: • Group 1 will be covering the Battle of the American Revolution on Edmodo.com • Group 2 will be playing Mission US (YOU WILL NEED TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT)- questions to answer are on Edmodo.com • We will switch after 30 mins.

  12. Battles of the American Revolution • Log-on to Edmodo.com • Complete the assignment with your clump • I will assign one person in each group to be the writer/typer. • At the end of 45 minutes, turn in your assignment on Edmodo.com, make sure everyone's name is on the assignment.

  14. After the war • The Continental Congress will meet to decide how the new country should be ran. If you were to run your own country, what kind of laws do you feel would be most important? Come up with 5 laws as a group. Write the laws down and sign if everyone at your table agrees.

  15. Study time • For the remainder of class, log on to either: • Study island • Quia • Quizlet • Edmodo.com • To review for your test that is next Tuesday. There is a practice test on quia.com and a practice written test on Edmodo.com.

  19. 1/16 and 1/17: Test Day • Log On to quia.com • Take quizzes: • American Revolution Part One • American Revolution Part Two • Nothing should be on our desk except for your laptop and index card.

  20. After test…. • Pre-test on the Constitution- the google doc link is on my webpage under assignments • Clean out notebook. Keep Classwork(CW) section and Vocab section only. • In CW keep the following: Mapquest of the USA, NC Map, The 13 original colonies podcast, Causes of the American Revolution, Important people of the 1700s, and Colonial Government Bookwork (p 106, #1-7) • Keep ALL vocab sheets
