  1. Isaiah 25:1 (ESV) O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you; I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure. I Sing the Mighty Power of God vs. 1,2.3 #128

  2. I Will Sing of My Redeemer vs. 1,3,4 #517 2 Corinthians 8:9 (ESV) For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.

  3. Hebrews The Superiority of Christ A Better Covenant (part 18) Hebrews 8:1-13

  4. Hebrews 8:1-13 (ESV) 1Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, 2a minister in the holy places, in the true tent that the Lord set up, not man. 3For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices; thus it is necessary for this priest also to have something to offer.

  5. Hebrews 8:1-13 (ESV) 4Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are priests who offer gifts according to the law. 5They serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things. For when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, "See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain."

  6. Hebrews 8:1-13 (ESV) 6But as it is, Christ has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises. 7For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion to look for a second.

  7. Hebrews 8:1-13 (ESV) 8For he finds fault with them when he says: "Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, 9not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt.

  8. Hebrews 8:1-13 (ESV) For they did not continue in my covenant, and so I showed no concern for them, declares the Lord. 10For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

  9. Hebrews 8:1-13 (ESV) 11And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying, "Know the Lord," for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. 12For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more." 13In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

  10. 2 Reasons why the new covenant is far superior to the old covenant

  11. 1) We have a new LEADER who is Christ the Lord (vs. 1-6) A) Superior in SERVICE and sacrifice (vs. 1-3)

  12. 1) We have a new LEADER who is Christ the Lord (vs. 1-6) 1Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, 2a minister in the holy places, in the true tent that the Lord set up, not man. 3For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices; thus it is necessary for this priest also to have something to offer.

  13. 1) We have a new LEADER who is Christ the Lord (vs. 1-6) A) Superior in SERVICE and sacrifice (vs. 1-3) B) Superior in MINISTRY and mediation (vs. 4-6)

  14. 1) We have a new LEADER who is Christ the Lord (vs. 1-6) 4Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are priests who offer gifts according to the law. 5They serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things. For when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, "See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain." 6But as it is, Christ has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises.

  15. 1) We have a new LEADER who is Christ the Lord (vs. 1-6) A) Superior in SERVICE and sacrifice (vs. 1-3) B) Superior in MINISTRY and mediation (vs. 4-6)

  16. 2) We have a new AGREEMENT that is written on our hearts (vs. 7-13) A) The REASON for the new agreement (vs. 7) 7For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion to look for a second.

  17. 2) We have a new AGREEMENT that is written on our hearts (vs. 7-13) B) The CONTENT of the new agreement (vs. 8-12)

  18. 8For he finds fault with them when he says: "Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, 9not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt. 19. 2) We have a new AGREEMENT that is written on our hearts (vs. 7-13) C) The RESULT of the new agreement (vs. 13) 13In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

  20. Lord, I'm Coming Home vs. 1,2,4 #490 Numbers 6:24-26 The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
