BUILDING YOUR SCHEDULE Main subject classes are entered into IC by your current 9thgrade teachers based on recommendations. Students add PE/Health, electives, and any additional classes. Think about what you want to take during 11thand 12thso you meet course prerequisites. Program of Studies: Description of ALL available classes. Consider sports, activities, and other commitments. You don’t need to take an Honors/AP class just because you are recommended for it!
BUILDING YOUR SCHEDULE AP Classes are college level courses designed by the College Board! Reading & Writing expectations will be much higher than Honors. For MOST students, there will be a period of adjustment. If you cannot handle potentially earning a “C” in a MP, then you may want to wait until 11thgrade to try an AP level course. Time & stress management are important! If you typically don’t handle stress well, this could be an issue with a difficult schedule.
GENERAL INFORMATION Most students will take it during 10th, so you should plan for this in your schedule. PE/Health is required! 1 hr each day Lunch & Learn You can eat, hang with friends, or use the gym Access teachers or peer tutors for help A/B elective options will not fit with every class. Taking a study hall opposite of a Music/Band/Choir class is a possibility- it is okay!
BLOCK SCHEDULING 83 minutes each block 2 Semesters / 4 Marking Periods Only 4 classes to focus on Some A/B day options Helpful for specific reasons, but not a must! Allows for “doubling up” in a subject area. Hon Bio + Hon Chem = AP Bio in 11th Hon Alg 2/trig + Hon Precalc = AP Calc A/B Similar to College schedule: MOST classes are 1 semester
Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT) Many programs are available in both Skilled Trades and Collegebound pathways. Learn more at www.mbit.org.
