  5. Setting targets • Use data and local knowledge • Identify your baseline • Be realistic and make targets achievable • Know where you’re going • “Our target for ‘number of prescription items without specific dosage instructions’ is zero by December 2007 “

  6. Don’t forget! • Consider the priorities of the organisation • Look at the business plan • More likely to receive senior management support
