  3. Dress Code Standards • Why do we have a dress code? • To maintain a academically focused learning environment

  4. What can’t we wear? • No bare midriffs • No baggy pants or clothing • No inappropriate headwear • No spaghetti straps or muscle shirts • No visible tattoos or body piercing • No electronic devices ( cell phones, ipods, laser pointers, cameras etc.?

  5. Dress Code Violation • First Offense- • referred to supervision • student must change clothing • Second Offense- • student must change clothing • assigned Saturday School detention

  6. Third Offense- • student will be suspended for defiance of authority

  7. Cell Phone Policy • Students may have cell phone in their possession for emergency reasons only • Phones must be in off mode or it will be confiscated

  8. Electronic Device Policy • HBHS policy prohibits use or possession by students of any electronic device during the school day. • Electronic Devices include: radios, tape players, CD players, DVD players, MP3, IPODs

  9. Attendance Policy • Students have 5 days to excuse an absence • Absences may only be cleared with a note from the parent or guardian

  10. Note must be in ink and have the parent signature or the parent who is on the registration card • After 5 days the absence will be recorded as a truancy

  11. Absence Note • To excuse an absence the note must have the following information: • Student’s name and ID # • The reason for the absence • The dates the student was absent • A parent/guardian signature

  12. Policy for Leaving Campus • Prior to leaving campus, a student must bring a note to the attendance office and obtain a checkout permit. • Students are not allowed to leave campus without checking out. Leaving without checking out will result in a truancy that cannot be cleared.

  13. Saturday School • Students who have four period truancies or one full day truancy will serve SATURDAY SCHOOL to clear the absences • If Saturday School is not served and the student reaches 8 or more truancies, the Student Attendance Review Board (SARB) process will begin.
