Twenty four modules are available at no cost to instructors in graduate-level training programs, one introductory module on AT is provided. Online Modules & Materials • Baby Power: A Guide For Families For Using Assistive Technology With Their Infants and Toddlers by the National Center to Improve Practice provides online training materials. This wasdeveloped through USDOE/OSEP grant, 1992-1998. Online Modules & Materials Let’s Play, located at the University of Buffalo Center for Assistive Technology provides a series of projects that are easily accessible and downloadable for families and early intervention providers to increase knowledge and use of AT with young children.   13. Online Courses • Early Childhood Integrated Instructional System, Center for Best Practice, Western Illinois University is a USDOE/OSEP funded project.   14. Online Certificate Programs • California State University, Center on Disabilities Training Programs. The COD at CSUN provides Assistive Technology Symposium and Certificate programs in AT, including courses on Autism and AT for kindergarten through early elementary school-age children.   16. University Training Programs California State University, Fullerton Assistive Technology Certificate Program. Courses are offered at CSU Fullerton to prepare AT Specialists to work with children, school age students, and adults with disabilities to implement AT to achieve community and school inclusion. http://www.fullerton.edu/ Robinson/SEECAP/06

  17. University Training Programs in CA • Collaborative AAC in Inclusive Early Intervention Settings at San Francisco State University, Department of Special Education and Communicative Disorders. This is a USDOE/OSEP funded project from 2004-2009 that includes endorsement in AAC and EI at the preservice and inservice level. Training Programs and Workshops • California State University, Northridge Center on Disabilities' Annual International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference (21st Annual International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference, March 20-25, 2006 ~ Los Angeles, CA) “This is a comprehensive, international conference, where technologies across all ages; disabilities; levels of education and training; employment; and independent living are addressed. Training Programs and Workshops The Bridge School “is an educational program dedicated to ensuring that children with severe speech and physical impairments achieve full participation in their communities through the use of augmentative & alternative means of communication (AAC) and assistive technology (AT) applications.” Outreach programs include training events in the Bay Area, Teacher in Residence Program, International Consultation, Building Bridges Camp, and “AAC By the Bay”--an international conference begun in 2005 and offered every two years. DynaVox, a leading vendor for AAC and AT devices, provides many training events and workshops throughout California regarding use and applications for DynaVox AT/AAC systems.   21. Training Programs and Workshops Intellitools, Inc. designs AT tools for students with learning disabilities to individuals of all ages with severe physical and cognitive challenges. Products include computer software and curriculum adaptations including Intellikeys and Intellitools Classroom Suite. Training is provided at cost to agencies, programs, and school districts.   22. Training Programs and Workshops • Prentke Romich, a vendor for AAC and AT technology, provides internet based e-training and regional workshops regarding the use of their devices. Training in both formats is no cost and ASHA CEUs are available. Prior registration is required. AT Training Summary • Introductory materials are widely available through internet sources. • AT training specialization is offered online through CSUN, CSU at Dominquez Hills and onsite at SFSU and CSU Fullerton. • SEEDS will provide a window for EI providers and families to organize initial training and introduction to AT.
