  5. Who takes part in the ceremony? • During the marriage vows, a white ribbon or rosary, called a "lasso", wrapped around the necks of the couple, which represents their joining. • It is a custom for a Mexican groom to give his wife a wedding present of thirteen gold coins, which are blessed by the priest during the marriage ceremony this represents the groom's commitment to support his new wife. • As the newlyweds leave the church, red beads are tossed at them, to bring good luck.

  6. Brides attire • Traditionally, the gown is made of white silk, with crocheted lace, which is sign of the Spanish influence. As most traditional Mexican weddings are with a Catholic Mass, gowns are not usually strapless, very modest. A veil is a must have, but its not just any veil of choice it must be Spanish lace, and worn during the ceremony it covers the bride's hair and comes to a point on her forehead.

  7. Grooms attire • Traditional Mexican wedding attire for the men of the wedding party is generally black high-waisted slacks and a short rounded jacket, called a bolerowith a lot of beads and designs.

  8. Attendant attire • the Mexican flower girl is in white lace. The bridesmaids and maid of honor wear slim dresses with a ruffled bottom. Any color is acceptable but, red is considered to be good luck. No women in the wedding party are to wear pearls, I guess it means you are not happy for the bridal couple.

  9. Other info.. • At a Mexican reception, it a custom for the guests to form a heart around the newlyweds, for their first dance as husband and wife. • A piñata is hung from the ceiling. It usually shaped like a heart or an animal. • The Mexican wedding cake is, usually, a fruit cake that has been soaked in rum.

  10. How is it different? • In the U.S you’re not really pressured to do it any other way but your own, while Mexican weddings are strict and wrapped around tradition and culture and religion. While we do carry some traditions in the U.S still today it really is up to the persons taste on how they want their special day to be like
