  1. THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOOBYSTIEG LARSSON NAMES: ASTOU THIAM, JUAN ANGULO, HYUNGKYUN CHO

  2. AGENDA • Main idea • Author • Main Characters • Setting- Background • Theme A • Theme B • Theme C • Conclusion

  3. Main idea • We think that the main idea is violence against women. We think that the author wanted to talk about this idea with some happening in this book. Maybe Larsson further enters the debate as to how responsible criminals are for their crimes and how much is blamed on upbringing or society. Salander has a strong will and assumes that everyone else does, too. She is portrayed as having suffered every kind of abuse in her young life, including sexual assault and time in a psychiatric clinic. Since she holds others responsible for their actions, she takes revenge on those who abuse others.

  4. Author • Stieg Larsson(15 aug 1954- 09 nov 2004). • He was born in skelleftehamn outside of skelleftea. At the beginning of his career he was not known for being a crime fiction writer, he was a science fiction writer and president of the science fiction fan club, not was until the 77’s that he start as a journalist and activist for political issues. He died in stockholm at the age of 50 of a heart attack before he was able to publish his three books the Millennium trilogy.

  5. MainCharacters • Lisbeth Salander • Mikael Blomkvist • Hendrick Vanger • Harriet Vanger • Wennestrom • Martin Vanger

  6. Setting-background • The book was written in Swedish but it was translated in English. The background of the book is Sweden. Mostly Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander ,whose are the main characters in this novel, had base camp in hedeby island where Vanger family owned and lived.

  7. Theme A • Author had strong opinion in sex violations. And he or someone mention in the book which is 46 percent of the women in Sweden have been subjected to violence by a man. Because women has less power than men. So many crime involved women.

  8. Theme B • The book is Larsson’s social portrait of a corrupt, modern Sweden. Salander hacked Blomkvist’s lap top. And Salander’s guardian ,who name is Nils Bjurman, tried to rape her but she was so smart so she escaped his hand. These idea showed author wanted to change his country dark problem

  9. Theme C • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo follows the story of a powerful family in the swedish society, and how the secrets in the Vanger family brings to people completely different together while they try to find the mystery in their roots. It shows how justice can bring two people to fall in love with each other, how two people that fight against corruption can find their special one.

  10. Conclusion • This book is bestseller in retail bookstores and his others books which are “the girl who played with fire” and “ the girl who kicked the hornet’s nest” are also bestsellers. This book follows a good story, it’s very logical with fundaments, is one of those books that if you start reading the book, you just want to keep going and would not stay away from it. In our opinion, the author did an amazing job of creating the story and luring the reader in, and how he step up the mystery and built suspense, it’s sad that he could not be alive to expressed to his readers what moved him to write a book that is so good and the rest of the Millennium trilogy.
