  5. 2014-2015 Syllabus Journeys • We will study multi-genre forms of literature and incorporate various modes of writing into our studies. Most works are in the textbook, but in addition to our textbook, we will read independent novels as part of our literature study. Students will also be required to read four other novels outside of class (designated by genre) throughout the year. We will study vocabulary and grammar to help in effective writing and communication and work on various aspects of expository, narrative, and informational writing as well as research throughout the year.

  6. Students must complete 4 Outside Reading assignments for the year. • Students are required to submit a parent permission card for each book. • Absences will not excuse late work. Long term projects are due on the due date, no exceptions. First Outside Reading assignment: Due Oct. 24 Outside Reading
